Muhammad Raiyan was infected with HFMD two years ago, at age one. The infection not only damaged his brainstem, but also his abilities to breathe, digest and swallow. His heart and eye movements were affected too. Raiyan is currently bedridden and his single mother has been struggling to make ends meet.
Fortunately, Dr. Prem Pillay generously waived the cost of surgery that will give Raiyan an 80% chance of recovering. Raiyan’s family however, is still short of $75,000.
To help Raiyan and his family, Republic Polytechnic will be holding a fund raising event consisting of performances and a flea market at the South Agora from the 20th to 21st of November. This event will take place from 11am to 6pm.
